About The Hague Academy

We are a dynamic international training institute that aims to strengthen local democracy worldwide by organising training and knowledge exchange activities, both in The Netherlands and abroad. We support inclusive and participatory local governance processes in a wide variety of themes such as economic development, water management and peace building. Our participants work for national and local governments and civil society organisations, as well as for development partners such as UNDP, GIZ and international NGOs.

About the job

With your financial insight, attention to detail, and proactive, eager-to-learn attitude, you will manage the purchasing and sales process smoothly.

Most of your tasks involve managing the purchasing and sales process. You will check incoming and outgoing invoices and handle them. The job includes the following tasks:

• Processing and checking the financial administration, including purchase invoices, expense claims, and credit card transactions.

• Creating and financially processing sales invoices.

• Proactively approaching programme managers to get approval and payment for outstanding invoices.

• Checking recorded hours and preparing productivity overviews.

• Assisting with payments and credit card payments.

• Entering project budgets and checking project reports.

About you

In this role, you will work closely with the financial controller, but you will handle your tasks independently and proactively. You have a good command of Dutch and preferably English to communicate clearly with colleagues, clients, and suppliers. You enjoy bookkeeping and are eager to learn. You preferably have a few years of relevant work experience in financial support for (international) projects.

Additionally, the following points are important to perform your role as a financial officer successfully:

• Minimum MBO level 4 (vocational level) in accounting or economics, preferably HBO working and thinking level.

• At least two years of work experience with ERP systems, preferably Exact Globe and Exact Synergy.

• Knowledge of accounting principles and Exact Globe Next.

• Affinity with numbers, financial insight.

• Accurate and detail-oriented. 

• Flexibility, integrity, and communication skills.

• Ability to work well under stress and meet deadlines.

  • Salary between € 3,346.- and € 4,650.-, depending on experience.
